Milo and I were playing with sticks the other day at the playground. Sticks should be placed into the category of “ultimate toys” because they can be anything. This day they were water hoses.

We watered the slide and we watered each other. We watered Milo’s scooter, and a tree, and some other sticks.

Then Milo said, “let’s water the sky”.

So we did.

Me: “Milo, you can have dessert before you go to bed”

…after thinking for a moment…

Milo: “I’m ready for bed”

a recent dialogue with Milo … to set the scene we are walking (I’m pushing him in his stroller) down a sidewalk in Brooklyn … I had just put something into a mailbox along the way …

Milo: “What did you do?”
Me: “I put the something in the mailbox”
Milo: “What did you put in the mailbox?”
Me: “A dvd…”
Milo: “What dvd?”
Me: “A dvd I watched last night”
Milo: “Why did you do that?”
Me: “I had to return it to the dvd store”
Milo: “What dvd store?”
Me: “Netflix”
Milo: “What Netflix?”

Milo has developed a knack recently for lines of interrogation that transcend any sense of logic (that I’m accustomed to).

I’m still confounded on how to answer – anyone have any ideas?
