Had a funny “pre-dad” moment the other day. I was at Home Depot buying a long list of items to renovate our current loft sleeping situation to make it bigger and more pregnant/baby friendly. So I purchased everything on the list and had the bigger sheets of plywood and drywall cut down to fit in the car. But when I got out to the car of course they didn’t fit. So I went back in to buy ratcheting tie downs and then was out in the parking lot for an hour in the freaking cold trying to attach the stuff to our bike rack. I was up on the roof when it suddenly dawned on me that the only reason I was doing this was for this kid!! It was one of the first times that the realty of having a child really hit me in a way that wasn’t about some abstract legistical issue. Ahhh, leave it to Home Depot to make me emotional 🙂
Anyway – with the huge help of my friend James we managed to successfully extend our loft by a few feet on Saturday. I’ll upload some pix of the process soon – but for now you can check out the renovation diagram [click on it to make it bigger]:
