We’re off!!! After an auspiciously awesome autumn, Connecticut gave us quite the snowy sendoff! But our trusty Subaru “Scoobie” was a trooper and we managed to get to the airport. More good luck prevailed as we actually made it out of the state and after a long day arrived in northern California. Delta did manage to lose 2 of our bags including Milo’s car seat – the latter seems supremely irresponsible to me, but I’m only a lowly consumer. In fact, they didn’t really lose them – they told us in Hartford that the headwinds were so strong that they might need to dump passengers in order to take on extra fuel. I think they wound up just dumping our baggage instead. Anyway, kvetch kvetch. This closes the fall chapter of our sabbatical year. Living in rural Connecticut was fab. We all spent a lot of time outdoors, cooked almost all of our meals, explored local food production, wrote dissertation chapters, built websites, read books, made tepees, stacked wood, voted, played with play-doh, etc etc.. Now we’re off to new adventures – holidays in Napa and then 2 months in Hawaii!!

God! Snow is soooo white. You’d think I’d remember that.
